Tyson is Learning Scripture!

Darren and I are working with Tyson on learning the Word of God. So far, we have taught him TWO Bible verses. He understands them and can recite them. It's too cute!!!! Take a peak at the what I was able to capture on video this morning before school.

Genesis 1: 1

John 3:16

Saying Goodbye....

The title, “Saying Goodbye” may be a bit extreme to someone reading this post, but it’s truly the only title that made sense to me. Having these twins is such a blessing, but lately as time nears, I’ve felt a small amount of sadness. Motherhood is totally challenging at times and I know more often than not I seem to complain about the difficulties of being a mother, but at the end of the day, I do really love being a parent/mother.

So why did I choose “saying goodbye” as the title of this post? Well, I just cannot imagine loving another child or dedicating my time, love, and energy to another child the way I have with Tyson. I’m sure my love to these twins will be almost instantaneous and this “sadness” will disappear as soon as I lay eyes on them, but I am trying to savor the next 9 days LEFT as a mother of a singleton.

On Saturday, Ty and I snuggled on the couch together and passed out in each other’s arms. Darren was able to capture it! Thanks honey!!!! It probably won’t be an option for Ty and I to have these moments for much longer, so I’m thankful for this picture. It will be a wonderful memory for years to come.

An Eventful Weekend to Say the Least!

Ty insisted on taking a picture with every Hokie Bird he saw! We took about 6. Here are 2 of the 6.

Wow, once the weather starts warming up, it certainly provides for much FUN and I guess by fun I mean outdoor fun, of course. On Saturday, Darren and I took Ty up to Blacksburg to visit the Virginia Tech duck pond. Before stopping there, Darren wanted to visit the brand new and very stylish shopping center that Bolling Steel furnished steel for. The shopping center is called "1st and Main". The shopping center is no where near filled with tenants just yet, but the shops that did exist were very unique shops. The restaurants are also incredible. We bought Ty a slice of pizza at "Sal's Pizzeria", but then headed over to "Salad Creations" for ourselves. YUMMY!!!!!!! If you live close or close enough, YOU MUST GIVE IT A TRY!

The picture below is a picture of some of the steel Bolling Steel furnished for this shopping center. The "orange gobbler", as they call it, should have cost over $100,000.00 to make, but it was sold to them for approximately $20,000.00

Ty took "Butterscotch" to the duck pond with him. Butterscotch, if you don't recall, is his class mascot.

On Sunday, we went to Church and then headed over to Sam's Club, but have no fear, we made the most of the beautiful weather by loading up the minivan with a soccer ball, a bat, and some baseballs. We let Ty run his little and athletic heart out.
Ty starts on a soccer "league" April 4th, so we wanted to make sure that he gets some practice time in.

I had to document his first pair of soccer cleats.

Running around with daddy! Getting lots of exercise.

Ty shoots and he "Scores!" HE was really into it. Check out his arm.

The First Snow of 2009

Take a peak at two video clips of Ty as he enjoyed the first and probably the ONLY snow of 2009. I sure wish Daddy didn't have to go to work that day. I bet Ty would have had a bit more fun with daddy than he had with me. I was terrified I was going to slip, fall, and go into labor, so I took it easy for the most part; however, every time Ty went sleigh riding, he insisted that I carry the sleigh back up the hill for him. I guess it's a good thing I have kept up with working out this entire pregnancy or I doubt I could have followed through with his request.

We played out doors for about two hours. It was filled with sleigh riding, snow Angel making, snow ball eating, and a little play time with Alayna and Elizabeth from the neighborhood.

He completed the snow play by sitting next to the fire while I made him a yummy lunch. I would have made him some hot chocolate, but my son despises chocolate. Still loves to eat dog food, but dislikes chocolate. Go figure. His nap lasted from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. Man, maybe it should snow more often. LOL!

What next?????

Ahh... where do I begin? This post is a little bit on the "vulgar" side, well as vulgar as it can get with a 3 year old boy, but it's a "must be documented" situation, for sure. If you don't have a little boy or are uncomfortable with reading a post regarding a "private" situation, this would be a good post to not read. However, if you can handle some clean/dirty comedy and need a good laugh, it's a MUST read. I just know my son will DIE when he is 18 years old and looks back on this and hears how many people I shared this story with.

This morning Ty took a shower with his daddy. When he got out of the shower, he proceeded to dry himself off. After drying himself off, he was, "playing with himself". I tried not to pay attention to it because I figured if I did, it would get worse. So, after a few moments, he says, "Hey mom, you know what I'm doing?" I thought, oh my goodness, how do I respond to that and what is his reply going to be. So, I said, "No, honey, I don't! What are you doing?" He said, "I'm playing pool!" He literally was playing with himself, but not the type of playing I thought. He was having a POOL TOURNAMENT with his jewels. I won't go into a full blown description of exactly what he was doing, but picture the pointer finger as the "pool stick" and the rest should be self-explanatory.

I have to admit, Darren and I could HARDLY contain ourselves. We just busted out laughing. Children so innocently say and do all of those things that adults would say and do if it was socially acceptable. :) TOO FUNNY!

A Few New Milestones to Document!

Tyson woke up this morning, bright and early, with mommy and daddy. We all three had to shower together. It was just that kind of morning: things to do, places to go, and people to see. No time to waste. After we showered, Tyson disappeared into thin air. I didn't think anything of it. Afterall, I had to get my butt (and a BIG one at that) dressed, my face painted, and my hair "did". No time to run around searching aimlessly for my almost 4 year old. About 5 minutes after he went missing in action, Ty reappeared fully dressed - - ALL BY HIMSELF. He's never done this before. Mommy usually CONTROLS that part of his day. You know me, I like him dressed like Mr. GQ, clothes pressed and hair combed to the side! Darren and I made a HUGE deal over it. Of course, it was hard for me to deal with for several reasons: 1) being the fact that he's growing up too fast, 2) the outfit didn't quite match, 3) I was dying to know what kind of disaster he turned his closet into, and 4) his shirt was on backwards. I knew I just couldn't bring myself to break his heart and tell him that it needed to be fixed. We just kept praising him over and over and over again. Finally, Darren spotted the shirt on backwards and we figured out a magical way to point it out without hurting his feelings. He handled it pretty well.

He didn't stop talking about getting himself dressed all day! It's adorable.

While out today, he did ask to go pee pee in the potty standing up. The ONLY two reasons he doesn't do this already is because one, he's too short and two, I'm not prepared or willing to clean up pee all over the place. Being we were in a public place, I let him attempt it. He was a 100% successful. Again, I made a HUGE deal over it and he exclaimed, "We're going to have to tell daddy about this mommy!" He was so proud.

I guess all of these new milestones will come in handy when the twins arrive!

Ty Has A Sleep Over Party!

As our dear friends, Tabby and Jeremie, prepared for their cruise, I offered for their son, James, to spend the night. It was the first time Ty had a buddy sleep over. James is an extremely well behaved child and was very polite. He walked around complimenting our home, etc. It was so cute. We were able to squeeze a bubble bath in before bed and of course, I had to document it. I know these boys will NOT be happy I did so when they are teenagers in high school! Oh.... the black mail I have. :) I also had to capture them in their cute little pj's, tucked into bed with their "blankie and gaggy". It took them quite awhile to fall asleep (almost 1.5 hours). Darren and I kept spying on them. Their conversations consisted of what they wanted to be when they grew up, monsters, and what their favorite toy is. Oh the life of a 3 1/2 year old. Both boys slept through the night (not usual for Ty, AT ALL, as many of you know), so we may have to invite James over more often. In the morning, James turned to me and said, "Kristin, I love you!" It melted my heart.

The Bolling's Go Bowling!!!!

Take a peak at Ty in action at Lee High Bowling Lanes. Never understimate your child's ability to do anything. He has proven us wrong over and over again and that's why we stop at nothing to try new things with him. It was certainly a nice break away from the cleaning, organizing, and undecorating.

A few cute things said...

This may be one of those things where "you just had to be there", but in the last two days, Ty said a couple of funny things and I just have to document them.

We were at El Rodeo last night and he, out of no where, asks "Are you allowed to tart in here?" He still has a hard time pronouncing his "f's" so, he really meant "Are you allowed to fart in here?" Darren and I just started laughing and explained that "No, you cannot fart in here!" He said it so loud, but I don't think anyone heard it. Too funny!

Ty woke me up this morning by getting in the bed with me. I rolled over and said, "Mommy and Daddy want to do something fun with you today. What is it you would like to do?" I thought he say Chuck E. Cheese or a go to a movie. But not my 3 year old. Ty replied, "Umm... let's see, maybe play frisbee outside!" And I said, "Well it's kind of cold!" He replied, "Yeah, but you can't play anyways." I said, "Why?" He responded, "Causes daddy might hit your belly with the frisbee." So sweet that he is looking out for me.

This morning, Tyson picked up one of Ninja's treats which was laying on his dog bed and he says, "Mommy, can I eat one of Ninja's treats, but I'm not going to share his germs, I want my own!" I have to say, they make those dog treats look so appealing. Being I believe in picking your battles, I said, "Sure, if you want, but I'm telling you you're not going to like it!" I believe he settled for craisons instead.

Today is my sister Morgan's 18th birthday. It's hard to believe. I called her to wish her a Happy Birthday and after leaving her my own message, I let Ty leave her a message on her voicemail. His message was, "Hi Aunt Morgi Happy Birthday! I don't love you." AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! What a great beginning to a mean ending. It's how he flirts with her. He totally plays hard to get with her.

Love the saying... "Kids say the darnedest things", don't you?

A Cool License Plate!!!!

On our way out of Carrabas Italian Restaurant on New Year's Eve, Darren spotted this really cool license plate. Luckily, I had my camera on me!!! I wish we would have thought of this.
